Twin carburettor - The Triumph TR4A of La Cour Marie
HOMEMEMORIESMAINTENANCECONTACT

Twin carburettor

The Triumph TR4A of La Cour Marie is fitted with a Stromberg 175 CD twin carburettor. The tuning of the twin carburettor has to be correctly done for a good and stable engine idle speed.

Lean screws must be adjusted at the right level and not too much unscrewed downward for the mixture of air and gas not to be too rich in gas, which would play a part in sooting up the spark plugs, as also said in the user manual of the car.

It is recommended to adjust the lean screws step by step, by eighth turn, using a 5 cents coin which is better and more practical than a screwdriver.

Once the lean screws have been adjusted, the engine idle speed should also be adjusted with the idle tuning screws.
